I’m an atheist and that’s just because I don’t really believe in god, sure if you could truly convince me then I wouldn’t be an atheist but the idea of god just doesn’t feel right or real and I don’t hate people if they believe in god or not and I don’t treat people better or worse if they do or don’t. Though I think some Christians use their faith as an excuse to hurt others, like for instance in middle school, I used to have a friend who would constantly hit me as a “joke”, it would always hurt a lot but if he ever genuinely hurt me he would seem sorry, but I later found out he wasn’t. One time he was reading a book called the gospel of John and I asked what he was reading, he made fun of me for not knowing simple Christian stuff and then I told him I am an atheist, he was pretty angry at me but he eventually just let go of it. Though a while later, I confronted him about his violence and he would say that no matter how badly he would always hurt me, he never truly felt sorry. I was really angry at him and told him his violence truly hurt me, both physically and mentally. He said that I was just hurting myself because I’m an atheist, as if the wounds he inflicted onto me weren’t real, as if the blood I’ve bled from him was all because I didn’t believe in god and as if it was perfectly justified for him to hit me for being an atheist, now although he didn’t start hurting me because I was an atheist, he definitely thought that it was fine for him to hurt me because I’m an atheist. Not sure if all Christians are like this but I sure hope not otherwise there is no way in hell I’m ever being one.
